GHQA Communities: Connect, Collaborate, and Innovate

The FACGH is a distinguished designation awarded by the American College of Global Health to recognize exceptional leadership, expertise, and sustained contributions in global health. This fellowship honors professionals dedicated to advancing healthcare equity, innovative solutions, and global collaboration to address pressing health challenges worldwide.

To be eligible for the FACGH designation, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Education:
    • Advanced Health Degree (e.g., MD, MPH, PharmD, MSN, DNP, PhD) or equivalent.
    • At least a Bachelor’s degree for the Long-Term Experience Pathway.
  • Certification: Completion of one of the following certifications:
    • Certified in Global Health (CGHC) through the American Board of Global Health.
    • Global Public Health Informatics Certification.
    • Certified in Global Healthcare Quality.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of applied global health work (Certification Pathway).
    • Minimum of 10 years of significant global health contributions (Long-Term Experience Pathway).
  • Membership: Active GHQA member for at least 3 out of the last 5 years.
  • Engagement: Evidence of contributions to GHQA, such as participation in committees, events, research, or working groups.

There are two pathways:

  • Certification Pathway:
    • Requires completion of approved global health certifications and at least 2 years of applied global health work experience.
  • Long-Term Experience Pathway:
    • Designed for individuals with a minimum of 10 years of significant experience in global health, demonstrating leadership and impact across multiple domains.

Applicants must prepare and submit the following:

  • Copy of highest degree diploma.
  • Copy of certifications (if applying through the Certification Pathway).
  • Updated CV or resume highlighting global health experience.
  • Completed Long-Term Experience Competency Form (if applicable).
  • Peer recommendation forms (two).
  • Proof of payment for the application fee.
  • Pay the $200 non-refundable application fee through the GHQA Online Store.
  • Access the appropriate pathway application:
    • Certification Pathway Application
    • Long-Term Experience Pathway Application
  • Complete the application online through the FACGH Application Portal.

Applications are reviewed by a designated committee of existing FACGH Fellows. Reviewers assess the applicant’s qualifications, experience, leadership contributions, and alignment with GHQA’s mission.

  • Global Recognition: Join an elite group of leaders in global health.
  • Leadership Opportunities: Access roles in committees, working groups, and global health initiatives.
  • Professional Development: Gain exclusive opportunities for education, mentorship, and research.
  • Collaboration: Connect with other Fellows and global health professionals to drive innovation.
  • Recognition: Be formally honored at the Annual GHQA Conference and featured on the GHQA platform.

The application fee is $200 (non-refundable) to cover administrative and review costs.

Applicants will receive notifications via email following the review process. Successful candidates will be officially inducted as Fellows at the GHQA Annual Conference.

Yes. Applicants who are not accepted will receive feedback and may reapply in the next application cycle.

To maintain the FACGH designation, Fellows must:

  • Remain an active GHQA member.
  • Continue participating in GHQA events, leadership roles, or research initiatives.
  • Adhere to the GHQA Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

The application process opens annually in May and runs until the deadline established by GHQA.
